Community guidelines

What we expect at the table, and what happens when it doesn't happen.

The short version

Turn up, or release your seat in time. Use the name you actually go by. Treat the restaurant's staff as well as you treat the table. Everything else follows from those three.

Immediate removal, no warning

  • Violence or sexual assault
  • Interfering with anyone's drink or food
  • Theft
  • Threats
  • Sharing intimate images without consent
  • Fraud, or asking members for money
  • Anything involving a child
  • Coming back after a ban

Serious breaches

  • Hate speech about race, religion, gender, sexuality or disability
  • Unwanted advances, or continuing after someone has said no
  • Deliberately shutting someone out on the basis of who they are
  • Recruiting or selling — no MLMs, no pitches, no exceptions
  • Pretending to be someone you're not
  • Photographing or filming people who've asked you not to

How we act

Three steps. An educational note for a first, minor thing — nothing recorded. A formal warning, which stays on the account. Then a suspension or a permanent ban. Reports of a serious kind are always read by a person, and every decision can be appealed to someone who wasn't involved in making it.

Reporting

From any member's profile, or from a message. You don't need evidence and you'll never be named to the person you reported. Deliberately false reports are themselves a breach.
